GMU 201 has no over-the-counter elk: every 2026 code is drawn, and the early either-sex rifle code E-E-201-E1-R drew out at 29 preference points for resident adults and 34 preference points for nonresidents. CPW 2026 Big Game Brochure
Everything below is 2026: the 2026 hunt codes, the 2026 draw and the 2025 harvest. 2027 hunt codes and quotas are not on this site yet (CPW had not published them as of October 17, 2026, when this site last checked). Codes do change between years, so confirm yours in the 2027 brochure before you apply.

2025 harvest, by hunt code
CPW reports harvest by hunt code and by herd area (DAU), not by GMU. A code that covers several units reports one number for all of them, so read those rows as the code, not as GMU 201. Why success rates mislead.

Common questions
How many points to draw GMU 201 elk?
For the early either-sex rifle code E-E-201-E1-R, 29 preference points for resident adults and 34 preference points for nonresident adults in the 2026 draw. The 1st to 3rd rifle cow codes took 0 to 1 preference points.
Is there OTC elk in GMU 201?
No. GMU 201 is not on any 2026 over-the-counter elk map, so every elk license here is drawn.
What is the difference between GMU 2 and GMU 201?
They are neighbors in Moffat County split by Irish Canyon Road (CR 10N), Colo. 318 and CR 10, with GMU 201 on the west against Utah. Each has its own limited codes; only the late cow code E-F-002-L1-R is valid in both.
