GMU 5 lies in Moffat & Routt counties. What is different about GMU 5

2026 brochure, OTC maps pp. 38–40 The unlimited 2nd and 3rd season bull licenses (E-M-000-U2-R and E-M-000-U3-R) are valid in GMU 5 in 2026; on the 2025 maps they were valid on private land only here, so the unit gained public land. 2025 brochure, OTC maps pp. 38–41 No over-the-counter archery license is valid in GMU 5; archery elk here is drawn.

GMU 5 has 21 limited elk codes for 2026 (2 archery, 4 muzzleloader and 15 rifle), 7 of them valid in this GMU alone. Resident adult cutoffs, highest first: E-E-005-W1-R at 17 preference points, E-F-005-W3-R at 6 preference points, E-E-005-W2-R at 6 preference points, E-F-005-W5-R at 3 preference points and E-F-005-W2-R at 2 preference points.
